I am officially 3 weeks into my Clean Eating Journey, it’s a huge milestone for me. I didn’t think I would be able to let go of the delicious processed foods but I’m here to tell you I don’t think I’ll ever be able to go back, even after 3 weeks.
I may approach things different from other clean eaters and I may not even be technically a clean eater 100% of the time and I’m okay with that. It take small steps, the first of which was to give up 7-11 slurpees. This was a hard task, I LOVE 7-11 slurpees, they are the best part of summer. That was until I found out that theses were the ingredients:
High fructose corn syrup and/or sucrose, water, caramel color, phosphoric acid, natural flavors, caffeine, quillaia, and yucca extract.
I don’t know about you but that doesn’t sound like something that should be in your body and the 18g of straight sugar wasn’t sounding fabulous to me anymore. So I stopped drinking them until yesterday when I cheated and bought a small coke slurpee. I wish I could say that it was the best thing I’ve every had but honestly I felt sick halfway through it and then I started thinking about drinking all those awful ingredients and it made me sicker.
So you see I’m not perfect and I’m sure I cheat when I have the occasional piece of pizza or I fry my tortillas in oil but 90% of the time I stick with clean eating. I love drinking a fresh smoothie in the morning.
I’m not too strict at this stage of transition because I think I would fail if I went straight clean, but I’m slowly getting there. I feel better and my acid reflux has really taken a back seat.
Few things I’ve found I’m good to eat:
Haggen Daaz Ice Cream (yum..but expensive lol)
Natures Own Cookies from Whole Foods
….oh yes, I found the “clean” desserts first.
